Regeneration Schemes

Working in partnership with local authorities, the Homes and Communities Agency and developers Iceni Homes provides affordable accommodation in key regeneration areas across East Anglia. Revitalising areas and helping to create mixed communities is a key role for Iceni Homes.

Type of scheme: 19 new flats on derelict land of the former Ipswich County Hall.

Location: Ipswich, Suffolk.

Partners: Iceni Homes, Suffolk Housing Society, Ipswich Borough Council, architects Milburn Leverington Thurlow, contractor Brooks and Woods through Rainbow Developments and the Homes and Communities Agency.

The development: County Hall, Ipswich (masthead image), is a prominent three-way partnership on an urban flagship site with historical and civic connections in the heart of Suffolk’s county town, Ipswich.

A high profile scheme providing a range of much-needed affordable homes for rent on formerly derelict land at the rear of the former County Hall, Ipswich, the 19 flats are all available at affordable rents, made possible due to securing grant funding to convert the shared ownership properties required under the Section 106 agreement.

The scheme, part of a larger residential development on the disused land at the rear of Ipswich County Hall, also has a range of shared facilities including communal garden and bike store.
