Supported Housing

Iceni Homes has considerable experience in delivering high-quality supported housing throughout East Anglia. Working in partnership with other agencies and service providers, Iceni has provided schemes including domestic violence units, lone parent accommodation, care homes for the elderly and accommodation for people with a variety of disabilities.

Type of scheme: Women Fleeing Domestic violence scheme of 12 self-contained flats.

Location: Norwich, Norfolk.

Partners: Iceni Homes, Cotman Housing Association, Norwich City Council, Norfolk County Council, Leeway, contractor Lovell Partnership, architect Chaplin Farrant and the Homes and Communities Agency.

The development: A new purpose-built refuge replaced an older-style hostel in the City. The scheme offers a safe haven for women and their children escaping violent relationships and other domestic crises. The development was built with eco-friendly technologies to keep heating and energy costs low. The building also includes state-of-the-art security systems to protect the families and a range of communal accommodation suitable for interviews, support and counseling and other services.

Type of Scheme: Young lone parents unit comprising four flats.

Location: Heybridge, Essex.

Partners: Iceni Homes, Colne Housing, Maldon District Council, Essex County Council’s Supporting People, builders Smith Construction & Design, architects Stanley Bragg Partnership and the Homes and Communities Agency.

The development: The project was designed to create a homely and stable environment for young lone parents, aged 16 to 25. The scheme, consisting of four 2 bedroom flats and a communal area with play facilities, offers short term housing to the young families. The young women are encouraged to gain confidence and life skills to help them to move on to permanent housing.
