Iceni Homes/Hundred Houses were contacted by South Cambridgeshire District Council regarding the redevelopment of a site owned by the Council at Fairview, Longstanton. The site lies within the Local Development Boundary, on the High Street and centrally within the village of Longstanton.
The site was occupied by 11 flats and 3 houses which did not meet the current Decent Homes Standards. A design was put together for 17 units.
A resident consultation event was arranged by South Cambridgeshire District Council’s Housing Team and Iceni Homes/Hundred Houses. The proposals of the redevelopment were discussed with the residents and alternatives for future accommodation was outlined at the meeting. The residents were fully supportive of the redevelopment and requested a move within the existing South Cambridgeshire housing stock.
The scheme is currently under construction and comprises of 17 units of which 12 are for affordable rent and 5 shared ownership units.
The affordable housing units consists of; 10 no. 1 bed flats and 2 no. 3 bed houses. The shared ownership units consist of 4 no. 2 bed houses and 1 no. 3 bed house. The scheme is due for completion in February/March 2017.
