Iceni Homes goes the extra mile for Sports Relief
Posted: May 27, 2010
Iceni Homes, an East Anglian company who project manage the development of affordable homes across Essex, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, has given its support to Sports relief 2010 by participating in one of the many race events that took place around the country this weekend.
"Tribe Iceni", named after the Iceni Tribe that led the revolution against the Romans in the East of England back in 61AD, comprised of Nathan Cole, Deborah Croll, Sarah Holyoake and Lucy Massey. The team has been working hard over the past few months to ensure that they were "mile ready", with training including regular 3 mile walks along the North Norfolk coast, dance classes, badminton and frequent 6 mile runs.
The event took place on Abbey Fields, at Colchester garrison, once home to a Roman circus, but home to a very different race last weekend.
Team leader "Boudica" (aka Deborah Croll) said "It's been an absolute pleasure to take part in the Sports Relief Mile, raising money to help transform the lives of poor and vulnerable people not only in some of the World's poorest countries but also here in the UK. Although 6 miles was tough for some of us, it is nothing compared to the difficulties that other less fortunate people have to deal with on a daily basis."
Iceni Homes, a collaboration of three leading housing Associations in the East of England: Colne Housing Society, Suffolk Housing Society and Hundred Houses, would like to say a very big thank you to all its sponsors.
